The Midspan DC is a direct
current input power injector for VoIP, Wireless Access Points, and other
PoE applications. The Midspan
DC allows utilization of an existing inhouse DC power
plant to power PoE installations. The Midspan
DC can also be coupled with an SEI
DC-UPS for a centralized and scalable backup power solution for
all PoE needs.
DC input power is less expensive, more reliable, and
efficient than input power from a traditional
AC UPS. DC power eliminates the multiple AC-DC and DC-AC power conversions
required in an AC-UPS. This improved efficiency results in a 30-40%
increase in backup time over comparable AC-UPS batteries as well as
decreasing air conditioning requirements because less hest is generated.
The Midspan DC is fully compliant with the
IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. As with all
midspans there is no need to replace your existing Ethernet switch
to realize the advantages of Power over Ethernet.
